Book Review

The second edition of this cardiology text book has been released. It has an international panel of 250 authors, including some Australian scientists and Cardiologists. The layout is in eight sections, starting with (1) Atherosclerosis and (2) Ischaemic Heart Disease. The other sections are (3) Hypertensive Heart disease, (4) Cardiac Arrhythmias, (5) Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy, (6) Valvular Heart Disease, (7) Congenital Heart Disease, and (8) Secondary Heart Disease. The book is well illustrated with all figures available online. Text is also available online (but a different purchase). It is difficult to rapidly assess such an extensive book, but I find it easy to access via a detailed index, it has a clinical approach with frequent case examples, and all sections follow a similar format.
