Appropriateness of mitral valve repair in rheumatic mitral disease is debated due
to complexity of repairs and shorter durability compared to repair in degenerative
disease. However, for young adults, this may be the ideal operation when issues of
compliance or women of child bearing age present for surgery. We present a case series
of young adult patients operated at the Green lane Cardiothoracic surgery unit in
last three years with operative techniques and early results.
