The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) is the global standard for coding
of diseases and health conditions, the codes for which are fundamental in the reporting
of disease trends and statistics. Clinical coding of hypercholesterolaemia encompasses
the identification of individuals with familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH). In-hospital
coding misclassifications can diminish the ability to accurately identify and monitor
diseases through electronic health records.
